The Reason Is You

I'VE FOUND THE REASON FOR ME TO CHANGE WHO I USED TO BE, THE REASON TO START OVER NEW AND THE REASON IS YOU…!

eBook DESCRIPTION

It was my last year of school. I was quite used to my calm, uneventful life and never saw what was coming. It all began on the first of September when we finally saw the newcomers, the two guys, who had come to live in our small town with only one school. It was clear from the very start that they were extremely different, each one with their own story, their own secret.

eBook EXCERPT

Everything around was flooded with morning sunlight. Silent serenity filled each and every leaf. Light blue sky, wispy clouds floating across, quiet sound of waves splashing and birds chirping somewhere in the trees.

I had been sitting on the meadow for several hours already, right on the grass. I was still wearing my prom dress, but I didn’t care. My cell was burning with calls, but I didn’t care. I sent a message to Mom saying I was alright right after leaving the hospital. That was enough.

I ran out of tears. They happened to be in a very little amount stored in me. I couldn’t cry any longer, devoid of any kind of emotions. I was just staring at the river…not seeing it at all.

* * * *

I met a bunch of classmates: they always hung out there on weekends, it was their stamping ground. I noticed Jenny and Eddy there as well. Together with the other guys they were lolling about at the mall’s café. Eddy’s right arm, I spotted, rested on the back of Jenny’s chair, with Jenny emitting a blissful glow…until she saw me. She usually dragged me along with her wherever she might go… some Eddies ago…

“Sure… Now I’m not needed…”

I felt a lump in my throat, but forced myself to smile and wave a hand at those who had greeted me. I pretended that I was in a hurry and was off the mall taking a glimpse of Eddy and Jenny on my way to the exit. Eddy had drawn his arm away from the chair, his smile fading away and eyes fixed on me, and Jenny… She looked as if feeling sick. That was the look of a person who was consciously turning from my best friend into… something I didn’t want her to turn into. And what was the reason?
