Epub (This is the most common ebook format. Examples of software that can read ePub files are Adobe Digital Editions, the EPUBReader Firefox add on, and QuickReader. Devices that can read ePub files include the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Sony Readers, Kobo Reader, and the Nook from Barnes & Noble).
Mobi (Amazon's Kindle, Kindle devices, and apps use this ebook format as do other readers such as Stanza, FBReader, Kindle for PC and Mac, and STDU Viewer. It can be opened using PalmDOC or MobiPocket’s reading software, which can be installed on a lot of PDAs and smartphones and is available for free. Limitations of the MOBI format mean sizes of images cannot be scaled with the font size; tables display differently on different readers, especially if the table covers more than one screen; and there is an absence of support for nested tables).
